providing better data for better decisions. " The BCIS Partners include:

. The BCIS Metadatabase
: "All members of the BCIS consortium manage data on biodiversity
and related topics. Indeed, some manage many hundreds of datasets covering
a wide range of issues, disciplines and functions. With such a breadth
of data available, it is appropriate to develop criteria for inclusion
of metadata records. This is known as a collections policy. The policy
for this metadatabase is to include, initially, only the highest level
of metadata records, i.e. those which represent datasets at the highest
level of aggregation. As an example, the entire bibliographic resource
of WCMC is represented by a single record."
