The Environmental Systems Research Institute comprises thousands of GIS professionals, staff and partners in many locations around the world. Schools in those same locations often suffer the problems of schools everywhere: resource shortages, poor access to technology, and declining support for geography education. The ESRI local schools program is a volunteer support program that combines the GIS & schools expertise of the ESRI Education Program with the grants and citizen science support of the ESRI Conservation Program. This program will facilitate technology grants to schools local to ESRI offices, help set up after-school programs such as GIS clubs, and help support geography and technology education in local schools.
